the CHALLENGE

How do you make an invisible condition visible… and understandable? Sensory Processing Disorder is a nuanced and often misunderstood topic, and this project set out to explain it in a way that felt clear, humane, and less than intimidating.

Inspired by the glory days of UPA Animation, the challenge was to strip away clinical language and replace it with something visually engaging and emotionally accessible, especially for parents of newly diagnosed children and for the children themselves.

the Result

By drawing on UPA’s bright aesthetic and its talent for depicting everyday, slice-of-life moments, the final piece approaches the disorder through familiarity rather than abstraction. The simplified visual language and storytelling aim to help viewers recognize the effects of this disorder within the scenarios presented.

The project balances clarity and warmth, using animation to turn a complex subject into something relatable, empathetic, and easy to grasp.
