Perspectives on Horror
Animation
John Carpenter is one of the undisputed masters of the horror film genre. So when I was looking for a project to work up my animation chops, I decided as a horror fan, horror podcaster and general fan of the man himself, that I could borrow one of his many pearls of wisdom on the subject, and use it as my basis for a passion project.
The piece is entirely hand animated through photoshop, with text elements added in After Effects.
I worked on this project intermittently over several months. I had some exceptional guidance from co-conspirator Anthony Derington at Something Ghoulish, Mathijs Luijten via Mograph Mentor, Ben Windsor at Watch & Key, and more, listed in the credits of the video.
