Illustrative Poster

 

For AIGA Jacksonville's Always Summer Poster Show 2012 I decided to go full blast into some bombastic music. I finally landed on Foxy Shazam's "Church of Rock and Roll" as my starting point and began conceptualizing.

I created some illustrations of rock and roll icons and iconography and worked them into a stained glass layout. Rock and roll references litter the piece and reach out to the entire history of the genre from Rock-A-Billy to Heavy Metal and beyond.

Musicians referenced are: David Bowie, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Freddie Mercury, DEVO, The Clash, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stone, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and KISS.
